Telemedicine Visit in Illinois

New Patients

All patients must have at least one of the qualifying conditions to apply for a medical certification. After verifying you meet at least one qualifying condition, ensure you have what you need for a smooth appointment process by reviewing what to have available for your telemed appointment.

Existing Patients

We offer recertification for patients who because of various reasons do not have their card anymore.

Virginia Patient Medical Cannabis Instructions

  1. Get Your Certification
    • Schedule an appointment (telemedicine or in-person) with a practitioner registered with the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority (CCA).
    • If approved, your practitioner issues a Written Certification for the Use of Medical Cannabis and enters your information into the CCA registration system, generating a digital ID you can download and print.
  2. Shopping at a Dispensary (No State Card Required)
    • Bring your printed or digital Written Certification and a valid government-issued photo ID to any Virginia medical cannabis dispensary.
  3. Optional: Apply for a State Registration Card
    • Including information about your qualifying condition for our provider. Contact us if you do not have medical records, we may still be able to help you.
    • Required for this optional application:
      • A copy of your Written Certification
      • Evidence of age, identity, and Virginia residency
    • Pay the $50 application fee (mailed separately to the CCA — the online portal does not process payment)
    • Processing for a full application typically takes about 60 business days.
  4. Renewals
    • Certifications are renewed annually with your practitioner. If you hold an optional card, renew it in the CCA portal for the $50 fee.

Caregiver and Minor Requirements

  1. If the patient is a minor or an incapacitated adult
    • A parent, legal guardian, or registered agent must be listed on the practitioner’s written certification (up to two parents/guardians and one registered agent may be listed).
  2. If the patient is an adult using a registered agent
    • If not already listed on the certification, the registered agent can register separately; a patient may be represented by up to one registered agent, and a registered agent may serve up to two patients at a time.
